Although I took classes in quilting, cross stitch, herb gardening, candle making and soap making, it was spinning and weaving that I fell in love with. I started weaving in 1979 while studying at the Greenfield Village in Dearborn, Michigan.
I enjoy making clothing from ethnic patterns using rectangles and adding a touch of modern flair. I weave many historial reproductions and period clothing for war re-enactors. Other items I weave include rugs, pillows, table mats, runners, sashes and stuffed toys, just to name a few. I have also woven art pieces that were juried into art shows.
I have a weaving and sewing studio in my backyard that is full of my various sized looms. I have a studio in a spare bedroom in my house that I make other items. I also have a kiln and a stained glass studio in the garage. It's a fun place that if you enter you will always remember it. Yes, I have taken over the house.
I often demonstrate in historic clothing and sell my weavings at various heritage shows around North Carolina. These shows include the Village of Yesteryear at the North Carolina State Fair in Raleigh, NC each October, plus various North Carolina Historic Sites and heritage shows in central and eastern part of North Carolina. For more information on my schedule, please click here.
I have also demonstrated and taught weaving on two episodes of the PBS series "Paint, Paper and Craft". I also teach classes out of my home as well as the Greenville Museum of Art.
I live in Greenville North Carolina with my wonderful husband Dave, our rescued dog Pooka and our bunnies Tribble, Theo and Angel.
We run a rabbit rescue which is named "Dance with the Bunnies Rabbit Rescue". We volunteer as a foster home for the rabbits that part of the Friends of the Pitt County Animal Shelter. For more information on these rabbits, click here.
